Limoneira avocados act as a nutrient booster by enabling the body to absorb more fat-soluble nutrients, such as alpha-and beta-carotene. Avocados are packed with 20 vitamins, minerals, phytonutrients and the "good" (monounsaturated) fats, which make them flavorful and healthy to eat. In fact, avocados have been proven to lower cholesterol.
Limoneira, with 1,169 acres in production, is one of the largest avocado growers in the United States. With over a half century of growing avocadoes, the Company has developed considerable expertise producing, harvesting, marketing and selling this increasingly popular product. During the last 60 years, the Company has seen the avocado's transition from a single specialty fruit to an array of 10 variety types ranging from green-skinned Zutanos to the predominant black- skinned Haas. To better compete globally, Limoneira has taken the important step of dense planting (4 times the trees per acre versus traditional plantings) and mulching to enable the trees to better acclimate to non-tropical climates. These sustainable practices enable Limoneira to tread lightly on the land.
