Chipotle visits Limoneira for Sustainable Tour

On September 9th, Arendall Jones, Area Manager from Chipotle’s Orange County California Operations came with his team of 22 restaurant managers to tour Limoneira’s sustainable operations. They toured our historic Lemon packing house, new Visitor Center and Solar Orchard. Along the way we fed them BBQ in the park, and although it wasn’t Chipotle, they gave it the thumbs up!”

“What a treat” said Jones. “The Limoneira philosophy is totally in sync with our Chipotle principles. We learned that Limoneira’s solar operations generate a megawatt of electricity to run their packing house and their green waste recycling partnership is one of the largest in California. They were also one of the innovators in Integrated Pest Management back in the twenties and Limoneira provides more farm worker housing than any other grower in Ventura County."

Limoneira gives a high 5 to Chipotle with its emphasis on pushing for more sustainable practices in produce farming. You can find out more from Founder and CEO Steve Ells at www.chipotle.com
