Citrus, Spice & Mint Iced Tea

While the antioxidant and phytochemical content of this tea could be the focus of a wellness article, the fact is they’re also a delicious combination. Add ice, and it’s a thirst quencher that can double as mix for your favorite spirits.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 Limoneira orange sliced
  • 1 Limoneira lemon sliced
  • 2 star anise whole
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1/4 teaspoon Cayenne pepper
  • 6 cups water
  • 2 cups fresh mint chopped
  • Honey to taste
  • Ice cubes

Instructions
 

  • Place the sliced orange and lemon, anise, cinnamon stick, Cayenne pepper and water into a large pot, and bring to a boil.
  • Cover and reduce the heat, allowing it to simmer for about 15 to 20 minutes.
  • Add the mint and stir it in quickly.
  • Re-cover the pot, and turn off the heat.
  • Let it steep for another 10 to 15 minutes, and then strain.
  • Sweeten with honey to taste.
  • Allow it to cool to room temperature, and then add to a pitcher with ice cubes.
