Oranges
While known for its lemons, Limoneira Company has also always been an orange producer. For many decades, Valencia variety oranges were grown in the company's Southern Operations primarily for export to the Pacific Rim. Throughout the late 20th century, developing countries began producing larger, seedless Navel oranges that successfully competed against the smaller Ventura oranges. Consequently, company management had the vision to acquire land more conducive to producing the larger orange varieties. As a result, Limoneira began producing large Navels and Valencias in the San Joaquin Valley in Central California. With nearly 950 acres of oranges, Limoneira focuses on high quality late season Navels and Valencias primarily for export to Japan, China and Korea. This niche marketing has driven the company to new heights of profitability in its orange business. Limoneira continues to believe in the credibility and viability of the California orange industry and its position as a world producer. Nothing compares with fresh premium oranges that have been bathed in warm California sunshine!
