Classic Lemons:
We are seeing some harvesting in District 3, but desert rains and humidity have slowed down picking. Supply remains tight but volume is expected to increase by early October as crews return to normal picking schedules.
Valencia Oranges:
Valencias are currently peaking on 88s, with very limited availability of 113s and 138s due to strong school demand. Substituting up in size may be needed.
Import Team Update
Mexico:
Weekly shipments are climbing near the 100,000 range and are expected to hold steady in the coming weeks. Sizing is trending toward 140s, 165s, and 200s, with grade currently leaning more toward Choice.
Argentina:
Argentina has reduced overall volume as the season winds down. YTD, they have shipped 2.6 million cases, which is 50% less than the previous year. They have shipped significant volume to Europe and Russia, with 5.4 million cases sent to Europe alone, a 100% increase over total volume shipped in 2024. Shipments towards the USA are expected to conclude within the next one to two weeks.
Chile:
Chile has shipped close to 2.6 million boxes to the U.S. so far, with pack outs primarily being 115s, 140s, and 165s. Approximately 70–80% of the crop grade is Fancy. Total volume is projected to increase by about 5% over last year, reaching an estimated 21–22 million boxes. In recent weeks, Chile has averaged 115,000 – 175,000 cases per week into the U.S., with 70% of that headed to the East Coast. This pace is expected to continue as shipments to Asia and Europe remain strong.
Harvesting Team Update
District 1:
Preliminary evaluations are underway, with an early to mid-October start anticipated for the season. We expect better crop this year with a significant amount of young acreage producing fruit.
District 2:
We have effectively stopped picking and are evaluating for next year. Harvest is expected to begin early next year.
District 3:
Storms and humidity have slowed harvest throughout September. Forecasts look clear going forwards and we are seeing weather drop into the mid 90 degree level when we expect picking to ramp up.
